The Golden, Muddy, Sea (Sian)

We arrived in Malaysia yesterday and were sad about leaving clinicaly clean Singapore. We needn't have been though because from what we've experienced in Malaysia so far it is all good. The passport control was the most comical part of our trip here! We boarded a bus in Singapore, which took about 30 Minutes to reach the Singapore boarder. We then had to get off the bus, packs and all and go through Singapore Immigration. We then Boarded a bus again to cross over a bridge over no mans land, then got off for the Malaysian Passport control. We then got back on the bus for a short 20 minute ride to the edge of Johor Bahru(JB). We spent 3 hours in JB waiting for a bus to Mersing which is on the East Coast of Penninsular Malaysia. The bus was freezing cold! It was like being in an Ice box for 2 and a half hours! On our departure from the bus we were met by Miss Coco, who works in the East Coast Hotel. Miss Coco is fabulous, she reminded Steve of John Inman. Just goes to show you can never expect what people will be like in any part of the world. I am sure Miss Coco would get on really well with Akimbo. Miss Coco is taking us both to Karaoke tonight which should be fab and I am really excited about it!

Today we have checked out Mersing and taken a walk along the coast. There is not very much here as most people use the town as a jumping off point for the Islands (we are heading there tomorrow). The sea here is golden and muddy, which I find most strange. We were expecting clear blue sea that we could snorkle in, so it came as a suprise to us. I don't like brown anyway so won't be swimming for the next few days! Apparently the reason it is brown is because we are here in Monsoon Season. (Steve woke up in the night and listened to a tropical storm) It is very pretty here, we took a walk along the coastal path which lead us through some Jungle, Steve was worried that the tide was coming in and I was worried about snakes so we had to turn back.
