Getting up at 6am again isnt funny, but we have Singapore airlines to look forward to!!
Without any delay we're on the way to Singapore for a few days before going to Malaysia. We had been to the ariport already but the city itself is just as good, its so clean I cant believe it, Bali seemed really clean after India, so here it seems like heaven. It is quite Londony in the fact that it has Chinatown which is very similar, apart from being lots warmer of course, and the food is better. Even Beef in black bean sauce is somehow better, even with the same ingredients!!
The first thing we did is go to Raffles hotel for a Singapore Sling, very nice but a little potent, feeling half cut we look round the museum at the hotel and then go off for a wander round the city.
If you like shopping then Singapore is the place for you, its got everything you'd want, even Marks and Spencer!! Sadly, lots of Mcdonalds though. Luckily we cant afford to shop too much so dont spend all the time in shops looking at things we cant buy!!
We wandered around anyway but without the shopping, and we work our way chinatown, now if you like the London version you'll love this, the only real difference is that you can eat on the street without needing a huge coat and scarf, oh and the food is much better, and cheaper, and the people are much friendlier, I could go on. They had rehersals in full swing for the approaching chinese new year and there were some impressively talented kids doing acrobatic stuff and other mind blowing feats of balance! That was enough for one very long day and the land of nod did beckon.
The tube, or SMRT at its called here is everything that every city's should be, clean(very), air conditioned, reliable and fast. The bad thing about getting about by tube is that it has actually made us miss home, it feels like a clean London.
Next day we go for a walk around little India, it makes us think we're back on the sub-continent until we walk out of shops and find no litter/dirt/poo etc floating around, and our feet are'nt black either. Still its another sector to this amazing city that we had to visit, a bit like Sentosa Island that we head to after lunch. You can get there by number of routes, but we choose the cable car, I had'nt been on one before and we were both a little nervous as we leave the 15th story and head up to Sentosa. The view is amazing and the rides seems too short, once we're there we get on the monorail that circlulates the island to go the underwater world. We've been to Aquariums before but this is brilliant! It even has humans in the tanks (cleaning of course, this is Singapore) and a huge variety of marine stuff.
Once we're bored of fish we realise that there are loads of beautiful beeches here too, should I get down to me undies for a swim? No, luckily for other beech users I decide against it. For the price of the entry ticket you get entry to the Dolphin Lagoon too so we watch them getting fed and doing jumps and stuff then head back to the city for more cultural
