Valentines in Bangkok and Super Hero's (Sian)

We arrive in Bangkok, mid afternoon. Trying to get a taxi to put on the meter was interesting but eventually we do and head to Sukhimvit Road where we hope to find a lush hotel for valentines.
We spend an afternoon in aircon luxury order room servive, have a pillow fight, a bath and watch TV!
We head to the airport at 10.30 to meet Tom and Jess from the plane, and spend what's left of the evening with them drinking very very strong cocktails in the 24 hour bar in our hotel. Ater copious amounts of alcohol we decide now would be a good time to cut steve's hair! Not too bad an effort especially with Tom holding the table lamp, Jess with the clippers and me holding the plug socket as the clippers kept on fusing. We safely locked Steve's hair away in the safe and have now magically forgotten to give the hotel the access code!
We all awake early and have a swim before breakfast.
The day is spent negotiating the sky train and river bus to the palace. The palace was amazing, definately a highlight to our trip. It looks like it has been designed by a child who wants to cover the world with glitter! Everything sparkled, the emerald budda has his clothes changed every season and we had to wear daggy clothes as we were not aloud bare shoulders, ankles, or toes! It was funny but wonderful.
We also get to see the reclining budda who is HUGE, not sure if the photo's really give that impression but steve was about the size of his big toe!
Another swim early evening before hooking up with Julia and Rolf for an Indian dinner. We search for Karaoke hoping to relive our experience from a few nights ago, but to no avail. Instead we go to the Hard Rock Cafe and listen to a cute rock band playing covers from queen and such like.
The ride home was great, we raced tuk tuks, Steve and I thought we had won until we pull up the hotel to be greeted by Tom and Jess, who's drver knew a quicker route!
Had to check out of our hotel today so made the most of the swimming pool, buffet breakfast and bath. We are now heading to the backpacker district of Ko San Road
